For Etsy sellers

You know what you sold.
Do you know what you kept?

Etsy shows your sales and payment activity β€” not the full picture of what you actually keep. Between listing, transaction, payment-processing, and Offsite Ads fees, the amount that reaches you can be very different from the order total. Porchlight shows your profit after every Etsy fee, per order β€” and lets you add your own costs for the fuller picture, if you want it.

βœ“ You're on the list β€” we'll email you first.

The gap

Even Etsy admits its calculator doesn't tell you this.

Etsy's built-in profit estimate is a starting point, not the real number. In its own Seller Handbook, Etsy explains that the estimate leaves out exactly the fee that hurts the most.

Etsy's Seller Handbook states plainly that its profit calculator only offers a basic estimate β€” and does not account for fees that vary order to order, including Offsite Ads, which can add up to 15% on top of everything else.

Not a countdown β€” real words

This isn't a hypothetical pain point.

We won't put a fake "1,204 sellers agree" counter here β€” nobody's actually tracking that number, and making one up wouldn't be honest. What we can show you is real: sellers saying this, in their own words, on Etsy's own forums.

"My husband asked how much Etsy makes off my store β€” I was really surprised. Etsy 'made' about 21% of my sales, and I hadn't really registered that until he asked."

β€” seller, Etsy Community forum ("Overall Etsy Profits")

A seller described getting a listing fee, a transaction fee, and a separate deduction all on one sale β€” and said they were just trying to work out what they'd actually made after everything.

β€” seller, Etsy Community forum ("Etsy fees - What is my profit?")

One seller credited a fee-analysis tool with showing they were quietly losing money on certain items β€” and said without it, they'd likely have given up on their shop within a few years.

β€” seller, Etsy Community forum

"I added up my numbers and about 26.7% of my sale goes towards fees and taxes. That is ridiculous."

The real math

A $100 sale isn't a $100 sale.

Fees stack in ways that aren't obvious from Etsy's dashboard β€” and they apply to shipping you charge, not just the item price.

This isn't a new problem

Sellers already pay to solve this β€” by hand.

Before any app existed, sellers were buying spreadsheets on Etsy itself just to figure out their real margins. That's the clearest proof this is worth fixing properly.

How it works

Connect it, or upload it. Your call.

No manual formulas, no re-doing a spreadsheet every month. A preview of what early access looks like:

01

Connect your shop, or upload a CSV

Link your shop through Etsy's own official login (OAuth) for automatic sync β€” or export your order CSV and upload it. No password sharing, either way.

02

See your profit after every fee

Every Etsy fee accounted for, including Offsite Ads β€” the one Etsy's own calculator skips. Add your own materials or shipping cost per listing for an even fuller picture, whenever you want.

03

Get told when margin slips

A weekly check-in flags anything trending the wrong way, before it's a surprise.

Automatic

Connect via Etsy's official login

We'll use Etsy's own developer platform (OAuth) β€” the same secure login Etsy provides to trusted apps. Your shop syncs on its own, no exporting required. We never see or ask for your Etsy password.

Always available

Or upload your CSV, no connection needed

Prefer not to connect anything? Export your order history from Etsy and upload it directly. Nothing to authorize, nothing to revoke later.

One honest catch: Etsy's own systems don't cleanly link every Offsite Ads fee to the order it came from β€” even large seller tools run into this. Your CSV export happens to label these more precisely than the automatic connection can right now, so if Offsite Ads accuracy matters most to you, CSV upload will be the more exact option at launch. We'll keep improving the automatic sync as Etsy's platform allows.
Where this fits

Not another spreadsheet. Not $49/month.

Existing options either bury profit inside a bigger SEO tool, or charge inventory-software prices for something you'll check in thirty seconds.

Why now

Fees keep moving. Most sellers don't notice until it's too late.

Sept 2024

New shop set-up fee introduced β€” $15–$29, one more line item sellers didn't budget for.

Dec 2025

Instant Transfer fee added β€” getting paid faster now costs extra.

Q4 2025

Etsy's take rate hit a record 24.5% β€” the largest share of seller revenue Etsy has ever kept.

June 2026

Regulatory fees rose sharply in the UK, France, and Italy β€” some more than doubling overnight.

What's next

One shop today. Sharper tools as we go.

We're not going to chase every marketplace at once. Here's the order we're tackling real, known gaps β€” starting with the one under our own feet.

Now

Connect your Etsy shop

OAuth sync via Etsy's own official login, or upload a CSV β€” no password sharing either way. This is the foundation everything else builds on, so it comes first, not last.

πŸ”§ Shipping with early access

Add your own costs

Etsy fees are only part of the story β€” materials, packaging, and shipping matter too. We're adding a simple cost-per-listing field so your number can reflect what you actually spent, not just what Etsy took. Optional, never required.

🎯 The honest gap: without this, we show profit after fees β€” not full profit

Closing the Offsite Ads gap

Etsy's own systems don't cleanly link every ad fee to the order it came from β€” even large seller tools only get partial matches. We're building smarter timing-and-amount matching, plus a one-tap "associate manually" option for anything that doesn't auto-link.

πŸ“Š Found in our own research β€” Etsy Support confirms this isn't fully solved platform-wide

Refunds, tracked properly

Etsy doesn't tell any third-party tool which refund belongs to which order. We're building a simple manual-match flow so a refunded sale doesn't quietly throw off a listing's margin.

πŸ“Š Same root cause as the Ads gap β€” Etsy's ledger doesn't expose this link yet
Later

Send it straight to your books

Export profit data directly to QuickBooks, or a clean accounting-ready CSV. Same shop, deeper tools β€” not a reason to add another platform to manage.

Exploring

Multi-shop view

Running more than one Etsy shop? A combined view is on the radar β€” once the single-shop experience is rock solid first.

Early access

We haven't built this yet. That's on purpose.

We're validating this with real sellers before writing a line of code. If this is something you'd actually use, tell us β€” and we'll build it for you first.

βœ“ You're on the list β€” we'll email you first.
One more thing

What would make this worth using?

Tell us the one feature or idea you'd actually want. We read every single one β€” this shapes what we build first.
